Assistant Manager, Marketing Communications

 

The Assistant Manager, Marketing Communications is responsible for developing and executing marketing communications that strengthen the TIS Puchong brand, support student enrolment and engage the school community.

The role leads the school’s social media and digital storytelling, while contributing to broader marketing communications initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing team, internal stakeholders and external partners. The Assistant Manager independently manages assigned projects from planning through execution and evaluation, while supporting the Marketing Manager in delivering the school’s overall marketing and communications objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Content & Social Media

  • Plan and manage the school’s social media presence and engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other relevant digital platforms.
  • Develop and manage the content calendar, including planning, creating, scheduling and publishing timely and engaging content across social media and the school website.
  • Identify and develop compelling stories that showcase TIS Puchong’s students, academic programmes, school life, achievements, events and community.
  • Create and coordinate content across copy, photography, video, Reels and other appropriate formats, working with internal stakeholders and external partners where required.
  • Write, edit and publish content for social media, website, email marketing and other digital platforms, incorporating SEO best practices where relevant.
  • Coordinate photography and videography for school activities and events, including capturing content directly where appropriate.
  • Monitor and analyse social media and digital content performance, prepare regular reports and recommend improvements based on performance insights.
  • Manage social media enquiries and community engagement, ensuring timely, appropriate and brand-aligned responses.
  • Act as the first point of contact for crisis communications on social and digital channels, escalating issues to the Marketing Manager in accordance with the school’s crisis communication protocol.
  • Keep abreast of social media trends, AI tools and emerging technologies, and apply relevant tools and practices to improve productivity, creativity and content effectiveness

 

2. Marketing Campaigns & Collateral

  • Support the planning and execute integrated marketing campaigns that support student enrolment, brand awareness and the school’s strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate assigned campaign activities, timelines and deliverables, working closely with the Marketing Manager, Executive staff and relevant internal stakeholders to ensure timely implementation.
  • Develop and execute campaign content and communications across relevant digital and offline channels.
  • Support the development, production and distribution of digital and printed marketing materials, including advertisements, brochures, internal branding, and other collateral.
  • Coordinate with printers, photographers, videographers and other vendors on assigned projects to ensure timely delivery and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Review and proofread marketing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with TIS Puchong’s brand standards.
  • Monitor assigned campaign activities and performance, and contribute insights and recommendations for improvement.

 

3. Events & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work alongside the Marketing Manager, and Executive staff to ensure effective delivery of marketing-related event requirements.
  • Coordinate assigned event communications, promotional materials, content, and other marketing requirements.
  • Provide on-site marketing support for events, including content capture, social media updates, branding and other promotional activities as required.
  • Liaise with Admissions, Academic teams, School Leadership and other internal stakeholders on assigned marketing and event requirements.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and partners to support the timely delivery of assigned event and marketing requirements.
  • Support post-event communications and content, including social media coverage, photography, video and other follow-up materials where required.
  • Support other marketing communications initiatives and projects as assigned within the general scope of the role.

 

Job Specifications

 

Minimum Academic / Professional Qualification

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing or a related discipline.

 

Related Experience

  • At least 6–7 years of relevant working experience in marketing, communications, social media, digital marketing or related fields, with demonstrated ability to independently manage and execute marketing projects.
  • Experience in the education sector would be an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders, agencies, vendors and creative partners.
  • Hands-on experience in content creation, social media management and marketing campaign execution.
  • Working knowledge of Meta Business Suite, Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, CRM platforms (e.g. HubSpot) and content management systems would be an advantage.

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and brand-consistent content.

  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability, with the ability to independently manage projects from planning and development through execution and evaluation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to interpret social media and marketing performance data and translate insights into practical improvements.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin.
  • Creative and resourceful, with a strong eye for engaging content and effective visual communication.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve day-to-day issues independently and escalate appropriately.
  • Proactive, collaborative, customer-focused and self-motivated, with a willingness to be hands-on in delivering marketing activities.
  • Comfortable adopting AI tools, digital platforms and emerging technologies to improve productivity, creativity and marketing effectiveness.
