Assistant Manager Finance
JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for directing, managing, and providing proactive, effective, and efficient financial management services for the company, demonstrating best practices and accountability. The role includes supervising all financial management functions such as financial operations, forecasting and budgeting, cash flow and treasury management, banking, verifying monthly management accounts, handling statutory audit and tax computations, tax planning, and setting up control procedures for finance and accounting matters, including accounts payable and receivable.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor daily financial activities, including accounts payable & receivable, general ledger & reconciliation.
- Checking, verify & approve supporting documents/invoices for bank payments.
- Prepare accurate monthly management report, cash flow, forecast, financial statement and other reports required for management.
- Review of accounting entries.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax filings, statutory reporting, and auditing standards.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial risks, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and optimize cash management.
- Preparing, reviewing, monitoring and managing annual budgets and monthly actual/budget analysis.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement financial controls and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, bankers and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure effective asset management, including rent and lease agreements, asset inventory, and insurance.
- Back up resource for members of the finance team when absent.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Finance Manager.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Finance/ Accounting or related discipline or equivalent.
- Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountant (MIA) is advantageous.
- Minimum three (3) years of working experience in Financial Accounting may be preferred.
COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in using computer software, particularly Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of accounting systems, particularly SAP S/4HANA, is an advantage.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of operating under tight schedules and deadlines with strong initiative.
- Available to join in January 2025
