Senior Executive - Research Communications and Engagement

The Senior Executive will play a strategic and hands-on role in supporting the Centre for Research Management (CRM) through digital platforms, research promotion, data analysis, and content development. This role requires strong programming, analytical, and design skills with the ability to produce digital reports, infographics, and compelling presentations. The candidate will be responsible for disseminating research achievements via web and social media platforms, enhancing visibility of research portfolios and institutional priorities. Reporting directly to the Director of CRM, the role demands excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking abilities, and initiative to drive the university’s research engagement agenda.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Engagement and Web Management
- Maintain and regularly update CRM’s research website and digital platforms (e.g. TU Connect, research portals).
- Design, manage, and analyse social media content to disseminate research activities and achievements.
- Develop content strategies to promote key research outcomes, milestones, researcher highlights, and institutional projects.
- Coordinate digital campaigns to increase public engagement and visibility of research initiatives.
- Ensure accuracy, relevance, and timely publication of research news and profiles across platforms.
2. Research Data Analysis and Visualisation
- Compile, analyse, and visualise data related to research grants, publications, partnerships, and KPIs.
- Use advanced Excel features, Power BI, or similar tools to generate dashboards and performance reports.
- Assist in data preparation and analytics to support internal and external reporting needs (e.g. MyRA, QS, SETARA).
- Automate repetitive reporting tasks using programming or scripting tools where appropriate.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely delivery of reports for institutional decision-making.
3. Research Promotion and Content Development
- Craft research stories, news articles, and profiles of researchers and centres for dissemination.
- Design visually engaging PowerPoint presentations, posters, and promotional materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with researchers and centres to gather content and co-develop impactful narratives around their work.
- Assist in conceptualising themes and producing communication material for events, fairs, or public engagement initiatives.
4. Coordination and General Support
- Support the Director in strategic planning initiatives and digital transformation goals.
- Work collaboratively with other CRM staff and faculties to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Assist in event planning, communication roll-outs, and report preparation as needed.
- Handle multiple concurrent assignments while meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A recognized university degree in a relevant field (e.g. IT, Data Science, Communications, Digital Media).
- Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python, JavaScript, SQL) and experience in automating reports or workflows.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros), PowerPoint, and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
- Good command of written English with strong storytelling and content creation skills.
- Experience in managing websites (e.g. WordPress, Joomla) and digital/social media content.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across units.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritise and manage competing demands efficiently.
- Experience in a research or academic environment is an advantage.
