The Senior Executive, Communications plays a key role in shaping and delivering strategic communications initiatives that strengthen the College and University’s reputation and visibility. This role moves beyond execution into ownership of campaigns, media engagement, and narrative development, while supporting alignment with institutional priorities.

 

The role requires strong media instincts, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate institutional priorities into compelling stories across platforms.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Communications & Campaign Delivery

  • Support the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across earned, and paid channels
  • Take ownership of assigned campaigns or projects from ideation through execution and reporting
  • Contribute to planning cycles, providing input based on media insights and performance data

 

Content Development & Storytelling

  • Develop high-quality written content including press releases, media pitches, speeches, thought leadership articles, and PR collateral
  • Identify and shape compelling story angles that resonate with target audiences across platforms
  • Support leadership profiling through strong storytelling and content development

 

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media, journalists, and industry stakeholders
  • Serve as a key point of contact for media inquiries, coordinating responses, interviews, and press engagements
  • Proactively secure quality media coverage, with a focus on Tier-1 and high-impact platforms

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with faculties, departments, and central teams to identify opportunities for storytelling and visibility
  • Provide communications support and counsel to internal stakeholders on media engagement and content development
  • Ensure alignment and coordination across multiple stakeholders to deliver cohesive communications outcomes

 

Media Monitoring, Insights & Reporting

  • Monitor media coverage, and PR performance
  • Manage and maintain a centralised digital repository of PR materials

 

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

 

Reputation & Media Impact

  • Tier-1 media mix for coverage secured under owned campaigns
  • Positive/neutral sentiment across media coverage
  • Consistent message pull-through in key coverage

 

Execution Excellence

  • Delivery of assigned campaigns on time and within scope
  • Quality media placements per key campaign (where applicable)
  • Strong content output across formats (press releases, features, leadership pieces) with minimal revisions required

 

Media Responsiveness

  • Media query response time
  • Accurate and well-coordinated handling of media requests and interviews

 

Stakeholder Effectiveness

  • Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on responsiveness and support
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects concurrently

 

Insights & Reporting

  • Timely and accurate reporting of campaign outcomes and media coverage
  • Actionable insights provided post-campaign to improve future performance

 

MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields, preferably in Mass Communications.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in public relations with agency experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with a knack for simplifying complex topics to their essence and making them relevant to our stakeholders/audiences.
