The Senior Executive – Arborist is responsible for managing the health, safety, and sustainability of trees and landscaped areas within Syopz Mall. This role involves conducting inspections, supervising arboriculture works, ensuring compliance with local authority requirements, and supporting
ESG objectives through biodiversity and green canopy enhancement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Tree and Plant Health Management
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of trees and plants within the mall’s compound.
- Recommend and implement appropriate care measures such as pruning, disease treatment, fertilization, and tree removal to ensure safety, aesthetics, and longevity.
- Vendor and Contractor Supervision
- Supervise landscape vendors and arborist service providers, ensuring adherence to scope of work, service level agreements (SLAs), and safety standards.
- Review and verify the quality of arboriculture works prior to acceptance.
- Compliance and Regulatory Liaison
- Ensure all tree works comply with local authority requirements (e.g., MBSJ).
- Liaise with relevant agencies for necessary approvals, permits, and inspections.
- Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain an updated tree inventory, including details of species, health status, risk level, and maintenance history.
- Provide accurate data and insights for ESG reporting, particularly on green canopy cover and biodiversity.
- Sustainability and Enhancement Initiatives
- Propose and implement tree-planting programs to enhance green canopy cover.
- Recommend and support sustainable landscape enhancement projects aligned with ESG strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Arboriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape Architecture, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of arboriculture or landscape experience; experience in commercial/retail property is an added advantage
- Certification as an Arborist (e.g., ISA or equivalent body) is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian tree species, plant pests, diseases, and treatment techniques
- Familiar with local authority requirements (MBSJ, Jabatan Landskap Negara, etc.)
- Proficient in tree risk assessment, arboriculture techniques, and sustainable landscape practices
- Strong planning, vendor management, and reporting skills
- Able to work independently with attention to detail and a safety-conscious mindset
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement

- Zero tree-related accidents/incidents within mall premises
- Improved overall tree health index and reduced tree mortality rate
- Minimum 95% SLA/KPI compliance by landscape and arborist vendors
- 100% compliance with MBSJ and relevant local authority requirements
- Updated and accurate tree inventory with timely quarterly reports
- Measurable increase in green canopy cover and biodiversity contribution to ESG targets
