Professor - Artificial Intelligence and Applied Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching & Learning
-
Provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, including curriculum innovation, programme development, and the enhancement of pedagogical practices
-
Design, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning materials; conduct lectures, tutorials, and assessments in line with best practices to optimise student learning outcomes
-
Mentor and support colleagues and postgraduate students in developing effective teaching and learning strategies
-
Supervise postgraduate research and foster a culture of scholarly teaching and continuous improvement
-
Uphold and advance high standards of teaching excellence to meet and exceed the University’s expectations for academic quality and student success.
Research
-
Provide academic leadership in scholarly activities, including leading research projects, publishing in high-impact journals, presenting at international conferences, and engaging in relevant community or industry collaborations.

Initiate and secure external research grants, and mentor colleagues in developing their research capacity.

Achieve and sustain the specified research output and impact targets consistent with the Professor level of appointment.
Administration and Other Activities

Provide leadership and strategic contributions in departmental, school, and faculty administration through active participation in committees, working groups, and governance activities.

Lead or contribute to initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and reputation of the University’s academic and operational functions.

Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the advancement of academic and institutional excellence.

Establish and strengthen linkages with external organisations, industry partners, and professional bodies to foster collaboration and promote the University’s academic profile.
REQUIREMENTS

PhD in Artificial Intelligence/Applied Engineering from a recognised university.

Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in teaching, research, and/or industry practice, preferably within a higher education environment.

Strong publication record with 10–15 indexed journal publications (ISI / Scopus Q1 and Q2) within the last five (5) years.

Proven ability to secure external research grants as Principal Investigator, with a cumulative value of RM300,000–RM600,000.

Scopus h-index of at least 16.

Successfully supervised and graduated at least three (3) PhD students by Research as the main supervisor.

Possession of at least one (1) approved patent, invention, or copyright.

Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, teaching innovation, and pedagogical excellence.

Evidence of mentoring and coaching colleagues and students to achieve academic excellence.

Skilled in developing and applying innovative teaching methodologies, including effective use of digital and IT technologies.

Active involvement in research projects, consultancy, or professional practice with evidence of scholarly or industry-relevant outputs.

Commitment to continuous professional development and engagement with relevant professional or academic bodies.
