JOB PURPOSE

The Part Time Lecturer in Interactive Spatial Design will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of designers who can create innovative and engaging spatial experiences through the integration of technology and design principles. This individual will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences on a part-time basis, contributing to the Interactive Spatial Design Programme at Taylor's University.

 

KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching and Learning:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops that foster a deep understanding of interactive spatial design principles and practices, within the allocated part-time schedule.

  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences through projects, critiques, and studio-based activities that encourage experimentation and innovation.

  • Utilize a range of teaching methodologies and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and promote active student engagement.

  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to support their academic and creative development.

  • Contribute to the development and assessment of coursework and examinations that effectively measure student learning outcomes.

 

Mentorship and Guidance:

  • Provide academic and career guidance to students, supporting their personal and professional development within the scope of part-time availability.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.

  • May contribute to supervising student research projects or dissertations, as workload allows.

 

Service and Administration:

  • Contribute to the development and review of innovative approaches in the curriculum, ensuring its relevance and alignment with industry needs, as part of the part-time role.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities as appropriate for a part-time lecturer.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as Interactive Spatial Design, Interaction Design, Interactive installations, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and/or curriculum development at the tertiary level.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in interactive spatial design and related technologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.

  • A passion for design, technology, and education, with a commitment to fostering a vibrant learning community.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work within a part-time teaching schedule.

  • Experience with VR, AR, and MR, projection mapping platforms and equipment.

  • Experience with 3D editing/Design software such as Unreal Engine and/or Unity Engine, Blender, Touch designer, Arduino, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Design Suite, Enscape, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.

  • Basic video editing skills for production and documentation purposes.

  • Creative thinking and the ability to contribute new ideas and concepts.
