RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties, such as designing, preparing, and developing teaching materials.
• Conduct classes/lectures, tutorials, and practicals; engage in consultations with students; perform invigilation, marking, and assessment.
• Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University’s teaching and learning expectations.

Administration and Other Activities

• Undertake and contribute to administrative responsibilities, including attending departmental meetings and participating in committees and working groups within the Department, School, and Faculty.

REQUIREMENTS

• Candidate must have a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Dance or an equivalent qualification or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the dance industry. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Extensive professional ballet training from a recognized institution or conservatory or certification from a recognized ballet syllabus (e.g., RAD, ISTD, Vaganova) is an added advantage.
• Experience working in higher education institutions is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to choreograph and develop ballet technique classes for university-level students.
• Experience performing with professional ballet companies or dance productions.
• Experiance in teaching in Contemporary, hip-hop and jazz or Malaysia Tradisional Dance.
• Strong understanding of ballet pedagogy, classical technique, and contemporary applications of ballet.
• Ability to teach beginner to advanced levels and adapt teaching styles to different student needs.
• Experience incorporating somatic practices (e.g., Pilates, Alexander Technique) into ballet training is an advantage.
• Ability to mentor students in performance, technique, and artistic development.
