JOB PURPOSE

 

Responsible for the planning, organizing and managing to ensure the efficient and effective conduct of practical classes and operation of the teaching laboratories in the school.

 

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • To manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratories.
  • Enforce the laboratory policies and procedures, quality assurance procedures and laboratory safety requirements in laboratories.
  • Enforce the human waste disposal procedures as well.
  • Responsible for the purchase of laboratory equipments, chemicals and materials and ensure that there are available stocks in the laboratories at all times.
  • Responsible for the regular maintenance of the equipment and infrastructure in the laboratories.
  • To plan and conduct Trial Runs and ensure that desired outputs are reached.
  • To assist in lab demonstration and guide students on proper laboratory techniques as well as best practices and be present during the entire laboratory session.
  • To assist in laboratory related sessions during university promotional events such as Open Day, Placement Day, etc.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

 

Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Related Field.

 

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE

 

At least 2 years of working experience, preferably in an educational institution and with laboratory background.

 

 

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

 

  • Good communication in English and Bahasa Melayu and interpersonal skills, including the ability work cooperatively and effectively with others.
  • Possess high integrity and leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrate good planning, coordinating, and time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge in life science laboratory equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration.
  • Ability to perform laboratory tests and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, practices and regulations related to laboratories.
  • Knowledge of and skills in using computer software e.g. Microsoft software applications.
