JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Taylor's College (TC) is responsible for driving the development of Taylors College and is responsible for developing the strategy and annual plans of  the College in line with Taylor's Education Group's Vision. The Head of Taylor's College (TC) will lead a team of senior executives in the area of curriculum development, academic delivery, operations and commercial  aspects of the College. They must have the breadth of experience necessary to lead the team.

The Head of Taylor's College (TC) will be the public face of the College and is expected to maintain a strong, effective presence in the Education Industry and build strong relationships with the regulators and fellow industry players. The portfolio of responsibilities may be adjusted by the TC council from time to time and the post holder will be required to be flexible in the discharge of their  responsibilities. The management ethos, core values and organization of Taylor's places great emphasis on leadership, individual responsibility, and teamwork. Being the leader of Taylor's College, the individual is expected to be the role model for the Core Values that Taylor's hold dear and has the commitment to pursue  such values and promote them. In essence, they should be able to represent Taylor's College locally and internationally.

 

KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership in setting the strategic direction, formulation, development, management, and implementation of strategies as approved by Taylor's College Council.
  • Formulate the operational plans necessary to pioneer whole life education at a mass scale throughout the entire spectrum of college product offerings
  • Oversee the integration of life skills and emotional wellbeing into the core curriculum development by aligning aspects of student experience, academic  support services and teaching and learning development. Demonstrate deep commitment to students in their education and to their development as individuals, in the areas of Head, Hand and Heart.
  • Drive the commercial underpinnings of the college even as we push for higher quality education outcomes in line with our social responsibility as a tertiary education provider.
  • Develop the facilities, learning spaces and technologies that continue to position the college as a premium destination for whole life education in the tertiary  phase.
  • Provide leadership on relevant strategy and policy areas, including responses to external bodies and requirements to represent Taylor's externally and in the  education industry.
  • Seen as an industry captain which is key to raising the profile of the college.
  • Provide strategic analysis of the external environment to ensure Taylor's is responsive in a global education environment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key government and other organizations, partners and stakeholders associated with the functional  responsibilities of the post including leading on preparation of submissions to government and other major bodies as appropriate.
  • Deliver sound advice and guidance to top management and Taylor's College Council on matters within the scope of the post.
  • Develop and foster relationships with senior staff in other academic institutions, including partner colleges, and those in key public and private enterprises in  the region, nationally and internationally.
  • Make a high-quality contribution as a member of the Executive team to the leadership, management, and strategic planning of Taylor's and to take specific leadership and  responsibility within the senior-most Executive team for the strategy and management of Taylor's & its associated resources portfolio (including other corporate and infrastructure services).
  • Establish and maintain the conditions that will encourage academic endeavors to flourish.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time.

 

JOB SPECIFICATION

MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

A doctorate degree or master's degree with at least 10 years of experience as Head of School in higher education (College/University level).

RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Strong business acumen in the field of academia. Have significant experience in curriculum development with a strong bias towards whole life education.
  • Possess extensive experience on matters pertaining to the business and administrative aspects of campus operations.
  • Must have significant experience of initiating and managing change, strategic planning and overseeing the implementation of plans through to positive  outcomes.
  • A record of active memberships and affiliations with Relevant external associations, networks and institutions is required.
