JOB PURPOSE

The Expert, Curriculum Innovation and Development, is responsible to support the Director, Curriculum and Educational Development in catalysing curriculum innovation and embedding good practices in curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment to support the University’s vision and mission. The intended outcome of this position is to contribute to the adoption of innovative, research-informed practices that strengthen the quality of graduate outcomes and student learning experiences across all academic programmes.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


1. Advise the Director, Curriculum and Educational Development, on the implication of the latest changes of the statutory and regulatory requirements on academic policies and practices including curriculum design and development, especially from the Ministry of Education (Higher Education), Malaysian Qualifications Agency and professional bodies.

2. Advise the Director on the implications of the latest development on developments in higher education pedagogy and curriculum policy, industry expectation, student expectation, discipline and academic development on academic policies and practices of curriculum design and development.

3. Conduct benchmarking and contribute to curriculum research initiatives that inform innovation in programme design and delivery, ensuring relevance to disciplinary advances, industry trends, and student expectations.

4. Manage and institutionalise curriculum transformation projects by working with various stakeholders.

5. Institutionalise change or innovation to increase the competitive advantage of Taylor’s education.

6. Support stakeholders in the development and review of new and existing programme structures, learning outcomes, teaching strategies, and assessment, guided by Taylor’s policy and procedures and national/international standards.

7. Develop, maintain, and communicate Taylor’s academic policies.

8. Support the Director in creating awareness of academic policies to all stakeholders, and strengthen the competency pertaining to curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment, guided by institutional policies, procedures, and best practices.

9. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

RELATED EXPERIENCE JOB SPECIFICATIONS


MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

• Relevant master’s degree in Education and Organizational Development or related field. A doctoral degree is preferred.
• At least five (5) years of relevant working experience

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

• Possess good managerial skills including project and stakeholders management
• Possess a good knowledge of the higher education industry including the relevant statutory

  and regulatory requirements
• Possess a good knowledge of the key processes of a higher education institution, including

  curriculum design, assessment, learning and teaching etc.
• Possess experience and skills in policy and practices benchmarking, policy and procedure

  development including curriculum design and development.
• Possess good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
