JOB PURPOSE
The Faculty of Innovation & Technology (Faculty) is led by an Executive Dean (ED). The ED will ensure that the Faculty adopts a distinctive approach to teaching and learning and supports development of world class research and knowledge transfer in focused areas. The ED will ensure the Faculty and Schools have the infrastructure and professional support necessary to enable it to achieve their academic objectives.


The Executive Dean will be expected to provide inspirational leadership in the Faculty and help Schools to fulfill their potential through offering students a world class experience and delivering research and scholarship which has impact within Malaysia and beyond. The Faculty of Innovation and Technology has made significant progress over the last 5 years and has tremendous potential for further development in all aspects of academic endeavor. We are seeking to appoint an academic leader who will provide visionary leadership and exemplary management to release the potential of all Schools within the Faculty built on a commitment to our core values.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Dean will need to be fully aware of all facets of University policy and activity and will participate with other members of the University to:
• Meet and improve key performance indicators for the Schools, Faculty and University.
• Develop appropriate plans, policies and strategies for the Schools, Faculty and University.
• Ensure strong academic and financial performance by the Schools and Faculty.
• Develop a culture within the Faculty based on the Taylor's Core Values, and one that is outcome and outward-focused to meet the needs of the highly competitive global market place.
• Implement the key University strategies outlined in the University Strategic Plan.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide academic leadership and domain expertise across the wide span of disciplines in the Faculty to enhance teaching and research outcomes.
• Achieve the financial performance goals of the Faculty by effectively managing the Faculty's budget and alignment to performance indicators while adhering to the governance, policies and standards set by the University and external accreditation bodies.
• Enhance the research profile of the Faculty by improving the quality and quantity of research output and making a significant contribution to the University's submission for the national SETARA, MyRA & international ranking exercise.
• Lead innovative approaches to curriculum design and delivery, working in partnership with the Vice-Chancellor Pro Vice Chancellors and Heads of School to undertake annual reviews of the Faculty's academic programs.


UNIVERSITY:
• Enhance the University's performance and reputation by participating as a member of the university leadership team to lead the strategic direction of the University.
• Provide advice and support to the Vice-Chancellor to ensure a competitive, effectively resourced, academically excellent and serviceoriented University.
• Contribute to University planning, policy and strategy development and implementation to enable the University to achieve its objectives.

EXTERNAL:
• Lead the effort, in collaboration with Heads of School, to work with the Business Development, Recruitment and Marketing Departments and ensure effective and efficient student enrolment strategies for the Faculty are implemented.
• Build and sustain strategic partnerships with universities in the region and globally to support taught provision and research and knowledge transfer.
•Build and sustain strategic partnerships with employers, industry, government, professional and community organizations and the Faculty's alumni in Malaysia and internationally to ensure the interests of the Faculty are being effectively promoted.
• Continue to build on the Faculty's extensive links with the business community to enhance lifelong learning experiences and develop research.

JOB SPECIFICATION
MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
• A doctoral qualification with a reputable track record in research and higher education within a relevant field.

EXPERIENCE RELATED
• Strong credibility as an academic leader.
• Academic standing as a Professor in one of the disciplines offered by the Faculty is desired.
• Significant and successful track record of strategic leadership and management at a senior level within a large and complex.
• Significant domain knowledge and skills in the areas of education, research and professional practice related to the faculty to enable strategic change.
• Proven experience in building research partnerships, including with industry, government, and the community, and in improving the research performance of a higher education institution.
• Successful management of change to maximize performance.
• An understanding of contemporary higher education issues and the implications of these for the management of universities.
• Proven capacity to work across organizational boundaries, including with government, community, and international partners, to achieve agreed corporate outcomes.
