JOB PURPOSE

The Resident Experience & Welfare Team’s mission is to foster a resilient student community by offering residents opportunities for personal growth and social development through this programme. We envision our student residence as a vibrant community where residents feel safe, connected and belong.

 

The Residential Experience Specialist plays a vital role in creating a supportive, engaging, and enriching living environment for residents at Taylor’s Residence. This position focuses on enhancing the resident experience through community engagement, well-being initiatives, and efficient management of resident welfare programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Resident Living Program Development & Engagement

  • Implement workshops and modular activities to promote personal growth, social skills, and academic excellence.
  • Create an environment that encourages leadership, learning, and community involvement.
  • Build strong relationships with residents to understand their concerns and provide basic counseling support.
  • Manage communication with residents and parents via digital platforms, ensuring timely updates and responses.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and encourage participation in events and community activities using relevant communication channels.
  • Mobilize community members for collective action in mission-focused projects and campaigns.
  • Leverage external expertise and initiatives to align with the goals of the Resident Community Service Team.

 

Resident Welfare & Support

  • Monitor residents' well-being through regular check-ins and escalate critical welfare cases to the Manager as needed.
  • Facilitate access to information and resources that support resident needs.
  • Address barriers to community engagement and participation proactively.

 

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Collaborate with staff to assess the effectiveness of programs and community engagement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records of data, attendance, and incentives related to programs.
  • Assist in implementing and analyzing satisfaction surveys to identify areas for improvement.
  • Compile detailed reports with qualitative and quantitative insights as required.

 

Budgetary Compliance

  • Assist the Manager in preparing and managing the budget for student relations and events. 
  • Ensure all activities are executed within the allocated budget and comply with financial policies and procedures. 
     

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with youth aged 16-25 in Malaysia
  • Minimum Diploma and above 
  • Excellent English (written and oral), ability to converse in Malay and Mandarin is desirable
  • Able to work independently, able to follow instructions and can adhere to deadlines
  • Proficient with MS Office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Google Drive Apps
  • Good to have a Counselling License by Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia.
  • Strong communication, networking, and listening skills
  • Experience planning and facilitating meetings and community gatherings
  • Experience developing youth engagement and community building
  • Work effectively in an environment with diverse cultures, multiple perspectives, and competing needs
