Analyst - Reporting and Insights

JOB PURPOSE
The Analyst, Reporting and Insights plays a role in supporting institutional decision-making through accurate reporting and actionable data insights. This position is responsible for managing and analyzing student-related data including enrolment trends, academic performance, retention metrics and converting this information into strategic insights for key stakeholders across the institution. The role contributes to the university’s goal of enhancing student success, operational efficiency, and informed planning through robust data management, predictive analytics, and clear communication of findings.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Data Collection & Analysis
- Collect, organize, and analyze student data including pre- and post-enrolment trends, academic performance, retention, dropout rates and etc.
- Build predictive models to identify at-risk students and propose data-driven interventions.
- Develop retention and dropout tracking metrics and identify key influencing factors.
2. Insights Generation & Early Alert Systems
- Implement and refine early alert systems to flag students facing academic, engagement, or retention risks.
- Analyze historical and real-time data to anticipate student needs and support strategic planning.
- Provide predictive insights and trend analyses to inform programme development and student support strategies.
3. Cross-Departmental Strategic Support
- Partner with other departments/ stakeholders to align data insights with institutional priorities.
- Ensure data integrity and security in collaboration with ICT and other relevant stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations in a clear, strategic format to support high-level decision-making.
4. Reporting & Visualization
- Design and maintain dashboards and reports such as enrolment, student academic performance, engagement, retention and space utilization.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for strategic use by institutional leaders and departments.
- Use visualization tools to present complex datasets in a simplified, impactful manner for non-technical stakeholders.
5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to enhance data collection, reporting processes, and predictive modeling capabilities.
- Stay informed about industry best practices in educational data analytics and recommend innovative tools or approaches.
- Drive the adoption of new methodologies that strengthen the department’s role in delivering high-impact, data-informed insights.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
MINIMUM ACADEMIC/ PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data analytics, reporting, or educational analytics.
- Demonstrated experience in developing dashboards, predictive models, analytical reports and translating data into insights to guide strategic decisions.
COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
- Strong command of data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, DAX).
- Skilled in using data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
- Good understanding of data privacy, data quality assurance, and governance frameworks.
- Ability to develop dashboards and reports that support strategic goals and operational performance.
- Proficient in translating complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
