A Year leader at Taylor’s International School is responsible for leading the teaching and learning, and administration of that Year group in the school, and a number of teachers within that Year group. Year Leaders are line managed by the Head of Section and the Deputy Heads.

Responsibilities
The Year Leader has, in addition to being a teacher, the following responsibilities:
1) To be a role model of teaching in a dynamic modern style reflecting the best practice from International / British schools.
2) Inform whole school planning and ensure that year team planning supports the aims and objectives of the school and meets the needs of all students.
3) To coordinate and supervise all the relevant subjects and teachers he/she is responsible for.
4) Monitor the teaching and learning of others, contributing to the school’s performance review process and coaching, mentoring and training colleagues across the school.
5) To consistently upgrade their own knowledge of the curriculum and convey it to other teachers.
6) To implement and supervise an effective system to check student’s work and feedback strengths and weaknesses to teachers.
7) To conduct meetings as and when necessary aimed at building upon strengths and overcoming weaknesses.
8) To thoroughly check all assessments to ensure the highest standards and to ensure all assessments are done in a professional manner.
9) To determine the books/workbooks to be used by students as well as to constantly source for additional resources for the Year group.

10) To plan and distribute a comprehensive yearly scheme of work and curriculum map relevant to their Year group.
11) To constantly seek ways and means to improve students’ performance, by analyzing strengths and weaknesses based on formal and informal assessments.
12) To prepare and lead discussions with parents about the curriculum offered at the school.
13) Play a full part in the life of the school community, supporting the ethos of the school, and encouraging staff, parents and students to do likewise.
14) To carry out whatever directions that may be issued from time to time by the Principal / Head of Secondary /Deputy Head.
