Content Creator

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Digital, Technology and Content Department, the Content Creator works closely with the Head of Creative Content to ideate and develop digital content (both moving and static) for various platforms. Responsible for taking ownership of the content topics and seeing it through to completion of the content pieces, be it independently or with the creative team. This person will also give and develop creative direction with the creative team to ensure that the content is of the highest possible quality, meeting the brand requirements and in line with the direction of the Department.

 

This person must be able to utilize all formats available to tell a story creatively, be curious and explorative in approach to the digital landscape for the “next thing”. This person needs to have an understanding of digital platforms and want to create work that stands out with high attention to detail.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating highly engaging media for multiple channel outputs
  • Conceptualize, ideate and produce digital content ideas. Projects could include writing, photography, videography, design, motion graphics, video editing, photo editing, interviewing, directing, production managing, and LIVE broadcasts
  • Work alongside the creative team to come up with inspiring, innovative ideas, in line with current trends
  • Understand how to create content for targeted audiences and evaluate the performance of your output.
  • Ensure all content is on-brand and meets brand requirements
  • Maintain quality and consistency across media types
  • Execute new concepts and develop innovative as well as bold creative ideas in line with current and upcoming trends
  • Source for cost estimates, quotations, and monitor budgets
  • Be able to interpret, organize and prioritize photo/video projects
  • Assess the creative, timeline and technical requirements and consult on the best approach to accomplish project goals
  • Maintain the organization's equipment, ensuring that the equipment stays in reliable condition; this position is also responsible for researching and suggesting upgrades/purchases when needed

 

MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

A Bachelor’s Degree of any kind but preferably in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Broadcasting, Advertising, Film and Television or anything related.

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE

Proven work experience as a Content Creator, Video Producer/Director or similar creative role

Preferably 3-5 years in a specified role within the field of digital media production and social media content development or any relevant fields

 

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • An understanding of video production and design.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: videography, photography, design.
  • A self-starter that’s able to handle a project through to completion with little direction.
  • Able to pair great stories with amazing visuals and presentation styles.
  • A passion for storytelling with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills with strong attention to detail, and high-quality work ethic.
  • Proven ability to estimate the resources and time required for production tasks
  • Ability to operate under deadline.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (in one or more of this software: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Must have an intermediate understanding of Social Media platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentations to senior management.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
