JOB PURPOSE

The School Nurse supports the Health Centre Manager (HCM) in all aspects of the Health Centre’s operations. The role requires flexibility to work at both the Main Campus and the Early Years Centre in Desa Sri Hartamas. The nurse must have their own transportation to travel between campuses when required.

This position requires a 40-hour work week, which may be split across one or both Health Centres. The Health Centres are not operational during school holiday periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide basic first aid in the event of accidents or illness
• Assist the HCM in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic Health Centre environment
• Support student health screenings and ensure accurate record-keeping
• Undertake tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the school and the HCM
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Contribute to the review and development of Health Centre SOPs

JOB TASKS

• Maintain accurate logs of student visits
• Ensure all student health records are complete, current, and properly filed
• Maintain medical supplies and emergency equipment
• Uphold strict confidentiality regarding student and family health matters
• Communicate with parents (via the school office and/or HCM) when a student needs to be sent home due to illness
• Identify and refer students with emotional or psychological concerns to counselling services, and inform the HCM
• Assist in delivering health education programmes (e.g., hygiene, head lice prevention, puberty, sun safety, hydration, first aid, nutrition, and exercise) as directed by the HCM
• Report any health or safety concerns affecting the school community to the HCM
• Promote a healthy and safe school environment
• Participate in training sessions and workshops organised by the school
• Support the HCM in conducting parent education programmes

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum Academic / Professional Qualification

• Registered Nurse with the Malaysian Nursing Board

Related Experience

• Experience in school nursing, child psychology, or counselling is an advantage
