JOB DESCRIPTION
Both an administrative and teaching role, you should be comfortable and confident working with learners as a classroom teacher and librarian. Maintaining, curating and creating resources and collections you effectively assist in the leadership of the Learning Resource Hub with the support of assistants.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting learners to develop effective research and information literacy skills across MYP, iGCSE and IBDP curriculum
- Creating and maintaining an inviting and productive learning environment
- Promoting the understanding of academic integrity with all stakeholders
- Supporting the planning and development of ATL skills across all grade year groups
- Working with teachers to support and enhance the curriculum
- Responding proactively to curriculum changes
- Taking a leading role in Book Week and other initiatives
- Involvement in whole school events and activities as required.
- Library administration including maintaining collections and subscriptions
- Teaching designated classes (subjects to match qualification and experience)
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager/link
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Qualified teacher
- Experience of working in a school or academic library
- Library qualification (desirable)
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of and ability to teach effective research skills
- Understanding of MYP, IGCSE and IB Diploma curriculum
- Empathy for learners and teenagers
- Proactive and solutions focused nature
- Ability to create and maintain an inspiring learning focused environment
- Ability to work with multiple learning areas and stakeholders
