JOB DESCRIPTION
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) Coordinator works closely with MYP teachers, the Learning Area Leaders, PYP and IBDP Coordinators and the Senior Leadership Team of the school to lead the pedagogical and administrative overview of the IB Middle Years Programme. The position holder reports to the Deputy Head and Head of Secondary and is not expected to teach more than 50% of a full timetable.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide pedagogical leadership of the IB Middle Years Programme
- Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum meet the programme requirements
- Ensure the programme is delivered, resourced, supported and reviewed appropriately
- Facilitate and coordinate staff training to support the programme
- Be available to support departments during staff collaboration time if required
- Review curriculum documentation and monitor effective implementation of key/related concepts, global contexts at ATLs in the curriculum
- Track learner progress throughout the programme and implement timely intervention to support learner success
- Work alongside agencies at the school such as Year Leaders and Learning Support to ensure learner’s social, emotional and academic needs are met.
- Work with the Learning Area Leaders to facilitate interdisciplinary learning
- Lead the Y9 Community Project and work with the Year Leaders and Learning Area Leaders to ensure service learning is integral to the learner experience
- Support the induction of learners to the programme
- Communicate and empower parents with knowledge of how the MYP framework works
- Work with the PYP and DP coordinators to ensure the school meets with the standards and practices required for an IB World School and programme evaluation
- Involvement in whole school events and activities as required.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
- Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
- Proficient in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of continued relevant professional development
- A good understanding of the IB MYP programme and IB philosophy
- A strong appreciation of the ATL skills required to be a successful learner
- Well developed organisational skills
- Very good interpersonal skills
- Ability to present to large and small groups of adults and learners from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain accurate records and track progress
- Ability to work under pressure and retain a sense of humour
- Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs, especially those with English as a second language
- Experience in an international school environment
- Experience of teaching the MYP
- Curriculum leadership experience
