WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an inspirational, experienced and highly motivated teacher of Drama to join our team of specialists. Knowledge of the IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) and IGCSE Drama (CIE) would be an advantage.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will teach Drama across the IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) in Years 7–9 and at IGCSE level, delivering engaging, practical lessons that develop learners’ performance, creative and analytical skills. They will contribute actively to the co-curricular life of the school, including directing and supporting Secondary School productions, and participating in wider community events such as house competitions and performances. The role requires a collaborative practitioner who is committed to high standards of teaching, learner wellbeing and the promotion of Drama as a vibrant and inclusive part of school life. The candidate will also have a clear understanding of assessment, feedback and tracking learner progress as well as strong classroom management and the ability to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:

  • Building learninag-focused relationships
  • Empowering children to become independent learners
  • Being clear about what is to be learnt
  • Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment
  • Using assessment information to plan progression
  • Providing high quality scaffolding and feedback to learners
  • Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning
  • Engaging learners in setting learning goals
  • Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent – teacher dialogue
  • Employing and integrating IT to enhance learning
  • Supporting learners to solve authentic problems related to “real-world” situations
  • Collaborating positively within a team and across teams
  • Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards and wanting to grow and develop and being committed to professional learning
  • Involvement in whole school events and activities as required
  • Working with learners as a form tutor and helping them set personal goals

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A relevant degree
  • Teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Theatre studies
  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development
  • Experience working with EAL and learners with diverse needs
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IGCSE, IBDP
