JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Specialist Teachers are informed, reflective practitioners who use inquiry-based teaching strategies. The Music Teacher will create a positive learning environment where learners are encouraged to develop their musical abilities, creativity, and appreciation for music through a variety of instruments, voice, and movement. The role involves guiding learners in both individual and ensemble performance, theory, music appreciation, and integrating music with the broader curriculum. There is also an expectation to contribute to the Music Ensembles/Music CCA program.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:

  • Developing and implementing age-appropriate Music programmes aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)

  • Engaging learners with interactive, creative instructional programmes

  • Creating a structured, positive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Maintaining accurate learner records, assessments, and reports

  • Providing feedback to support learner growth and skill development

  • Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent – teacher dialogue

  • Involvement with the school music ensembles and music CCA programme 

  • Employing and integrating ICT as a tool that improves children’s learning and assists learners to solve authentic problems related to “real-world” problems or issues

  • Positive involvement in whole school events and activities as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A relevant degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)

  • Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)

  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development

  • Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs 

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IBDP and/or UK (preferred)
