JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Systems, SQL, and Development Specialist (Manager) plays a pivotal role in supporting and optimizing the organization’s data systems, ensuring the effective integration, development, and performance of databases, systems and applications. This role demands strong technical expertise, collaboration, and accountability for delivering high-quality solutions.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of all data held within iSAMS, the school’s Management Information System (MIS)

  • Regularly audit and validate data input across all areas of the school to maintain high data quality and consistency in  iSAMS

  • Maintain and update  systems related to assessment, recording, and reporting for the entire school, covering both Primary and Secondary divisions

  • Ensure secure handling of confidential data in strict compliance with the Singapore Data Protection Act (and GDPR)

  • Ensure robust protocols for data security and privacy across all platforms and processes are implemented

  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality information to meet the needs of students, teachers, managers, and other stakeholders

  • Carry out data analysis, compilation, and reporting to support school initiatives, including learner progress reports and special projects

  • Contribute to the development of office administration systems for efficient retrieval of up-to-date materials while maintaining confidentiality

  • Ensure  systems related to examination entry are accurately maintained and updated

  • Assist the Examinations Officer with systems of communication for key exam entry information  to support staff with data sheets, reminders, and follow-ups as required

  • Collaborate with admissions, marketing, and other key areas to develop effective Business Intelligence reports

  • Work with Primary and Secondary Curriculum Leaders and the Timetable Team to ensure the school timetable is accurate, up-to-date, and efficiently managed using import procedures

  • Oversee the production of all school reports, grade sheets, and other assessment-related documentation

  • Manage relationships with MIS suppliers, including systems & cloud providers, to ensure seamless integration and functionality

  • Supervise data entry and data updates across functions such as Learner Services, Admissions, Finance, and  People & Culture

  • Deliver training sessions and presentations to staff on the use of new systems, ensuring smooth adoption and effective utilization

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the IT helpdesk site Contribute to the development and implementation of new systems to improve efficiency and data usability

  • Support academic-related assignments and tasks, ensuring alignment with school objectives and deadlines

  • Responsible for the integration of benchmarking data such as CAT4, YELLIS, ALIS etc

  • Oversee the management of the iSAMS based portals for parents and students

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline (or equivalent)

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., MCPD, MCSD, MCTS) in database technologies or business intelligence

  • 4+ years of SQL programming experience (Transact-SQL, views, subqueries, UDFs, triggers, stored procedures)

  • Proficiency in graphical report creation and report development with SSRS, BI Development (SSIS)and Microsoft Power BI

  • Experience using APIs to update and extract information and integrate cloud based systems

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration

  • 4+ years managing a school’s data and information in an iSAMS environment

  • Familiarity Visual Studio .NET, JavaScript, and Microsoft Power BI would be useful

  • Experience in web development (ASP.NET, HTML5, XML, CSS) and mobile app development would be useful

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Google Workspace, SSO, and Google Apps Scripts

  • Proven ability to lead systems development projects and coordinate with stakeholders

  • Experience delivering IT training to adults and working in international school environments

  • Strong adaptability to new systems and technologies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, and macOS
