JOB DESCRIPTION
To oversee the careers and university admission education programme and provide both direct and indirect individual careers and university information. You will be expected to provide guidance and advice to learners and their parents.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide careers and university advice to learners and families and support learners to apply for places at international universities.

Provide and curate a central bank of local, national and international careers and university resources accessible to learners.

Provide information on entrance requirements for different professions and university entrance.

Provide advice to learners and parents on visa requirements when applying to study in different countries.

Liaise with Year Leaders to implement Careers and University Admissions Education programme within the PHSE programme.

Liaise with Year Leaders and IBDP coordinator to support learners through the options process.

Apply for and establish links with “Collegeboard” for US University applications and ensure learners are prepared for admissions tests.

Apply and establish links with “UCAS” for UK University applications.
-
Assist learners in the preparation of individual statements and references required for applications to international universities.

Ensure that Oxbridge and other Ivy League candidates (learners) are prepared for entrance tests and applications.

Establish and maintain links with parents, universities and local businesses and engage them to support the learners

Coordinate visits and presentations from touring universities.

Arrange career guidance and “practice” interviews as appropriate for learners.

Liaise with tutors and year leaders to provide training for teachers in university application needs

Maintain your own Professional Learning in Careers and University advice.

Produce an annual action plan for the development of careers education and advice at Years 12 and 13.

Manage the budget allocated for careers and university admissions education and advice

Involvement in whole school events and activities as required

To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager/link
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
-
A degree
-
Knowledge of international school context is essential and a teaching qualification may be an advantage

A counselling qualification (preferred)
-
Evidence of continued relevant professional development

Experience in supporting learners with diverse interests

Experience of working with different cultures (preferred)

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Good presentation skills

Effective administration skills

Coaching skills (preferred)

Ability to work with bespoke software and good digital literacy skills

Willingness to continue to learn and adapt
Knowledge and Understanding

Relevant curriculum knowledge, including MYP, IGCSE and IBDP

Understanding and knowledge of different admissions processes
