JOB DESCRIPTION

To supervise and support our learners in their break and lunch times across the Primary and Secondary schools. Working in the cafeteria, sports areas, playgrounds and other social areas you will form strong relationships with our learners, teachers and admin staff. 

You will be the supervising adult for our learners and first point of contact for them should a need arise.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interact with learners and staff (teachers, nurses, learner services, members of Victus and JLL) to form strong relationships with the school community

  • Make sure learners are safe, happy and looked after at all times

  • Help to resolve conflicts between learners that may arise during lunch or break times

  • Be aware of, maintain and enforce any essential agreements that have been put in place by the school such as where learners are allowed to go, who they car play with and use of technology in any given space. ​​​​

  • To have regular contact and feedback with your SLT links

  • To pass on any safeguarding concerns that may arise as part of your role

  • Involvement in whole school events and activities as required.

  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager/link

 

A TYPICAL DAY

I arrive at 09:00am ready for my 1st duty that begins at 09:25am. I have duties with both Primary (5 - 12 years old) and Secondary (11 - 18 years old) learners. I am often in the cafeteria with the learners monitoring the queue for hot food. I remind learners to put their phones away if they are texting in the queue and help another learner who needs a plaster by accessing the 1st Aid kit in the cafetiera. I talk to the learners at the end of break and remind them to clear their table. I also have outside duties. I help to resolve disagreements, ensure the learners are always safe, reinforce the need to wear a hat in the sun and ensure learners are keeping to their physical distancing groups. I anticipate the end duty and help to move the learners to their learning spaces for the start of lessons. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • The ability to think quickly and problem solve

  • Able to make relationships and develop rapport with adults and children

  • Calm and approachable

  • Keen to be involved in the whole life of the school and excited to be joining our school community 

  • Willingness to learn and upskill (training in Educare will be provided)  

  • A genuinely liking for children 

  • Well organised and self motivated

  • Proactive and able to work autonomously

  • Reliable and punctual with a proven track record for commitment to work
